Confirmed from Panthorn Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Large park with athletic fields & courts, plus a disc golf course, trail, fishing pond & playground.
What runners say about Panthorn Park
“The park is beautiful, I go there for the disc golf course, the course is great.”
“It's kind of set back away from any busy roads so it's quiet.”
Great park with a pond, basketball courts, tennis courts, baseball fields, playground, and hiking trails through the woods with streams. The fall foliage was beautiful this time of year.
We love the trail walls. Several ways to go. Needs some help with clearing however... this time of year is pretty over grown in spots.... and trees over trail from weather.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Panthorn Park in Southington is an absolute delight! I visited with my kids and our dog, and we had a fantastic time. The park offers a serene fishing pond, a picturesque walking trail, and an expansive playground featuring two large play structures, swing sets, a sandbox filled with toys, and unique…
Always a Great hike with my dog. Most people use leashes. Clean park. Could use a little help on trails from the storms, trees down blocking areas. Need some help in water areas but most of the time is good.

Plan your run at Panthorn Park
The practical stuff
- AccessDawn to dusk — the gates close, so do not plan a run that finishes after dark
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- LightingRunners report lights on the path — useful for pre-dawn and after-work miles. Lighting and opening hours are separate things, so check both.
- At the trailheadparking, restrooms — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
- Stroller / wheelchairReported as smooth and step-free enough for a running stroller or a chair.
