Confirmed from Penny Road Pond's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Calm forest preserve featuring hiking trails, ponds, picnic tables and fishing.

Beautiful place, for enjoying quite picnic or a leisure walk. Calm and peaceful ambience and less crowded place, to get close to nature. Also drive through the Barrington Hills is so beautiful.
BEWARE -It was a very nice and relaxing walk through the penny road trail! Took me about 1 hour and 30 mins to do a loop around the preserve. When I got back to my car I had like 2 ticks on my legs and 1 on my back! Be wary , of walking through the tall grass and check yourself after exploring (:
Penny Road Pond is a wonderful place to bring your family or go alone to fish or spend time meditating in nature. This is one of the better forest preserves in the Cook County Forest Preserve network. The water is calm and ringed around by forest which you can explore via dirt trails through the trees.
This parking of forest preserve is family friendly. Nice hiking trails, easy. If you coming here for hiking get mosquito repellent.

The practical stuff
- AccessDawn to dusk — the gates close, so do not plan a run that finishes after dark
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- At the trailheadparking, restrooms — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
- Stroller / wheelchairReported as smooth and step-free enough for a running stroller or a chair.
