I grew up in Ringwood and definitely did not take advantage of this place. Now older (and questionably wiser) when we visit our parents we make sure to bring our kids here and enjoy the scenery. It's stunningly beautiful. Streams (with trout!), ponds, historic buildings, hiking trails, oicnic spots, etc, etc....
The place is filled with nature and there's a lot to see. If you plan for a picnic you can do it at a shade or under the sun. It's a nice family place to go and possible to take a walk for hours. Go mushroom picking it to the mansion/museum. Take a hike up the mountain road or celebrate your child's birthday.
I went to this place on a cloudy Saturday. Nothing is beautiful as nature. The place is good. Probably, one of the good ones to spend time, walk, and relax. There are three parking lots starting from the entrance. Also, Manson are used for events. I saw few improvements in terms of facilities i.e.

You've got these huge, ancient trees that create this incredible, almost magical light filtering through. And the Skyland Manor adds another dimension to the whole park.
