Confirmed from Riverside Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Riverside Park

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (424 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

well-maintained 8 mentions

“They have a gazebo and play area for kids in great condition and clean.”

🌳 shaded & cool 5 mentions

“Small shaded pavilion nearby and lots of sun”

🌾 quiet & peaceful 7 mentions

“Even with a private party the park is a quiet, calming, friendly place to visit - a rare gem hidden away from the sounds of traffic of nearby highway 287.”

This was my first visit to this park. It was a department picnic, with a big group. The day before the event, the weather forecast showed a 50% chance of rain. This was a bummer, but we did not have a rain date and decide to go forward. The rain gods were helpful, but the rain did arrive eventually.

Nice fields and playground. Had a decent trail that loops around. A good sized park overall. Was also relatively quiet.

Riverside park in Piscataway is a little known gem of a park and family area. Every time I have gone to this park I have my grandkids with me. The playground has activities for different ages and abilities. There are traditional swings you would expect to see at a park and then there are special challenge activities.

Nice place to spend time with family. Calm and also there is space for kids to play and plenty of space for adults also to play. Good for elders to walk and relax. Interesting thing is there is a small water body and excellent for pictures. Awesome experience being there. Check it out.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

🅿️ Trailhead parking 8 mentions

“The only downside was the parking, which had to be distributed over many different lots, in some cases leasing to some walk in the rain at the end of the event.”
