Confirmed from Saddle River County Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

Saddle River County Park is a large park that runs along the Saddle River with a long path connecting different areas that include parking. We went to the Dunderhook area and walked along the trail to the waterfall. There are two pathways: one that is paved and one that is a more natural trail.

It is a nice park, but there are a few things you should consider, especially if you plan to visit with a large group or on weekends: - There's a lovely pond where you can walk around, fish, or enjoy the view. - There's a small playground. - There is a vast field where you can play any sport.

★★★★☆ — Honest , Jul 2024

Good paved walking/biking paths, ball fields and playground stuff for the kids. The paved path stretches for 7.5 miles from the Duck Pond section in Ridgewood, south to its terminus section in Rochelle park. It's comprised of 5 major sections that typically have picnic tables and bathroom facilities.

After a celebratory lunch for our daughter's first graduation milestone, we wanted somewhere we could sit by the water, let her play in the park and the wife and I could talk so after a brief google search we routed to Saddle River Park. This park is huge with plenty to do.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
