Confirmed from Saxon Woods Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Green space featuring a swimming pool & aquatic playground, plus 18-hole & mini-golf.
What runners say about Saxon Woods Park
“It’s large, well maintained, and perfect during the summer, especially for families with kids.”
“The trails go around and are easy to follow.”
“The place has an incredible balance of nature, recreation, accessibility, and family-friendly activities all packed into one huge park.”
We love ❤ going to parks that are nice and peaceful. (and include free parking) Note: the picnic area charges a $5 fee for parking. One thing we noticed and appreciated was the fact that parents were very watchful of their children. This made us feel comfortable. The swings were designed with every age range in mind.
Good 2-3 hours hike depending on the trails. Some of them are easier than others. The noise from the Parkway does intrude from time to time, however...
Leading from the Saxon Woods Golf course through the Hutchinson Parkway into a big grounds along the river, this is one of the larger parks in the region. The trails go around and are easy to follow. It does accept dogs, and the entrance on the north side has swimming pools and other activities.
Very nice park. Well kept, clean, trails are clearly marked. Enough parking space. The trails are easy, around 2.5mi. Trails stay free of ice in winter and do not have much elevation.
Trail conditions & character
“The parking for Westchester residents only is insane, but I'm sure this isn't the only park with them.”
“Signs had me really confused about dogs, but I think the no dog signs meant, no dogs in the water park or mini golf area.”
“Would expect to have a larger bathroom here for the size, but otherwise excellent.”
“Definitely not good for wheelchairs, trail is a mix of rocky and narrow dirt paths.”

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
- SurfaceNatural surface — easiest on the joints and the most fun, but expect roots, rocks and mud after rain
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- At the trailheadparking, restrooms — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
- Stroller / wheelchairReported as smooth and step-free enough for a running stroller or a chair.
