Confirmed from Sears Woods State Nature Preserve's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about Sears Woods State Nature Preserve
“A nice walk in the woods with scenic views of the river below in areas.”
Neat loop trail. Roughly 1.5 miles. Took me 45 minutes and I was taking my time. Most of the trail was pretty basic and very flat, but as soon as you near the river, there are some very cool views and hills (for Ohio haha).
The Sears Woods nature preserve is a great place to take a nice walk through the woods. The trail is 1.25 miles and is easy to navigate the through. There are a few spots where the roots are heavy on the path. A few small hills to climb, but very moderate. Part of the trail runs alongside the river.
A great hike for beginners or those with gait issues. Large parking lot for this small nature preserve. A 1.5 mile circle hike that takes you through woods and along the river. Very easy mostly flat hike. No restrooms.
This was my second visit here. The path, for the most part, is pretty wide and clear. There are elevation changes in a couple areas. Nice river views. Nicely shaded for most of trail. NO PETS, not for handicap, may be challenging for very small children. Parking lot fits about 6 cars. Trail approximately a 1.
