Confirmed from Shager County Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

Trailhead parking

Park featuring a beach, picnic facilities, and a playground, plus a boat launch.

What runners say about Shager County Park

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (142 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

It’s a nice little place to sit and enjoy your day and have a little family get together. They have 2 docks where you can go out on and enjoy the water and the morning breeze and fish from on the other side there’s also a beach where you can go swimming.

★★★★★ — Annette , Jun 2020

Decent place to park and eat a meal. This park isn’t much more than a huge parking lot servicing the nearby bike path and a few pieces of play equipment. Walked out on one of the docks and got eaten to pieces by some next-level mecha-mosquitos. Maybe don’t visit near sunset.

★★★★☆ — Daniel , May 2020

What a great park. Free. You can swim and sunbathe. A Dock to fish off, jump off. Swings a boat launch and a walking path. What more do you need?? What a great spot to cool down in the hot Minnesota sun.

★★★★★ — Marlucia , Aug 2020

We parked are car here while we rode the Singing Hills State bike trail toward Mankato. This is a nice county park with a swimming beach, picnic table and a boat launch. We enjoyed the nice view of Cannon lake as we had a picnic after our bike ride.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
