Confirmed from South Fork Rail Trail Trailhead's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Wooded area featuring well-maintained hiking trails with views of a river, waterfalls, and wildlife.

It is a wonderful place to walk or take a bike ride. Nature abounds with waterfalls and various birds. The trail is smooth and non elevated for easy enjoyment. Along the way, there are many places to sit and enjoy your surroundings. It is a perfect place to unwind and exercise your soul.
I really enjoyed how the trail started with a nice view of the river. The trail was a straight shot with a lot of sitting area to take a break. It was round trip of 4 + miles and to get those steps in. Follow me @chapmansvantagepoint on Instagram
One of my favorite trails near downtown Lincolnton. Enjoyable, even leveled gravel trail, moving water, almost always has a cool breeze in the summer, and photographic views especially during sunset.
Great find for a shady cool hike on a hot day. Out and back right next to the river with some pretty views. Flat rail trail with packed gravel surface. About 3 and a half miles out and back.

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
- SurfaceMixed — more than one surface along the route, so check the segment you plan to run
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeRunners describe real tree cover here — it makes a summer afternoon workable
- At the trailheadparking, restrooms, water — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
