Confirmed from South Salk Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

“What a great park for children of all ages under 10 ( or older that was just a guess ).”

Went here for the sledding hill. Great experience. There is a walking trail up one side protected by trees. Great dedicated sledding hill.

Used To Walk This Park From Kirchoff To Algonquin Rd When I Was In School. Very Friendly People Walking By. They All Say Hi Or Good Afternoon. Today I Went Back In A Long Time To Walk My Dog There And Met A Lot Of Other Furry Friends. Nice Park, My Dog Was Really Tired Afterwards.

Great place for a walk or to take your children to play on the equipment, this is the time of year to get out it is cool you can see the leaves start to change this is run by the park district, hope to see you out walking

★★★★★ — John , Sep 2023

Two big kid playgrounds and a 2-5 year old playground plus a path to the library and a sled hill. One of the best parks I've been to. I strongly recommend.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

“The kids love the playground and parking is only a few feet away so it's easy getting the kids from the car to the playground.”

The practical stuff

  • AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says

  • At the trailheadparking — reported by runners
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
