Confirmed from St Croix River Crossing Loop Trail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about St Croix River Crossing Loop Trail

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (26 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🪧 well-marked 2 mentions

“Smooth trails, well marked, beautiful scenery, separate from motor vehicles and pedestrians for the most part.”

If you like walking, well then sit down and listen, because I have a place to tell you about. Trees? Check. Fresh air? Check. Mosquitos that will literally take off with your first born? Abso-freakin-lutly a check!

★★★★★ — Chad , Aug 2021

Fantastic trail. I parked on the Wisconsin side and walked over the 36 bridge and back on the drawbridge. If you want to avoid the steep incline though, I would recommend the other way around. The whole loop took me around 2 hours walking at a medium pace.

★★★★★ — Emily , Jun 2021

Very well marked trail. A thoroughly enjoyable walk and not too taxing even with a fussy baby in a stroller!

★★★★★ — Jared , Nov 2023

Smooth trails, well marked, beautiful scenery, separate from motor vehicles and pedestrians for the most part. Depending on which direction you take, there's either a shorter challenging uphill and a longer downhill, or if you go the other way a longer uphill and a challenging steep downhill that'll test your brakes.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
