What runners say about Sunland Trailhead
Good parking area with many nice trails in different directions and various difficulty levels. Nice view of Ridgecrest. Road from College Blvd out to parking area is dirt with washboarding and potholes but passable, just go slow.
Excellent hike close to town. A lot of trail options and a great place to take in the sunrise. Some interesting mine shafts and a bunch of desert flowers and cacti. Steep in places w loose gravel and rocks. Be ready for a few tricky steps.
It's a great spot to hike. There are multiple choices to make the hike as easy or moderate as you'd like.
