Confirmed from Sunset Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Sunset Park

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (205 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

well-maintained 3 mentions

“Great, clean, well manicured place to play.”

🏞️ beautiful scenery 6 mentions

“Nice frisbee golf course coupled with a view of some beautiful waterside homes.”

🌾 quiet & peaceful 6 mentions

“It's a quiet spot, and there's a paved path to get a little more isolated, with a couple benches.”

Paved walking trails, beautiful view, and a few fishing spots. Paved trail has a big loop with disk golf….things…..and a long lakeside strip which ends in a primitive trail through the trees. It is a simple park, but I quite enjoy evening walks here. And hey, you get to see the odd box turtle.

★★★★★ — Hunter , May 2022

Has a paved walking trail and covers about 10 acres. It would take about 10 mins to walk the circle. Dirt trail at the end, not sure where it ends up at. Neat area to ride a bike or electric scooter. Could play ball ⚽️, or any other sport if you wanted to. Quiet area.

The water in the park was too high to really enjoy the whole park area. It's a quiet spot, and there's a paved path to get a little more isolated, with a couple benches. There are some beautiful homes, and a couple places to take in the creek

Kind of hard to get to following GPS, but worth the effort. Very nice little trail that is wheelchair accessible and dog friendly (they even provide pooper scooper bags). Nice frisbee golf course coupled with a view of some beautiful waterside homes. All in all a nice place to hang out.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

Plan your run at Sunset Park

The practical stuff

  • AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
  • SurfaceMixed — more than one surface along the route, so check the segment you plan to run
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeRunners describe real tree cover here — it makes a summer afternoon workable
  • LightingRunners report lights on the path — useful for pre-dawn and after-work miles. Lighting and opening hours are separate things, so check both.
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
  • Stroller / wheelchairReported as smooth and step-free enough for a running stroller or a chair.
