Confirmed from Tecolote Canyon Trailhead's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about Tecolote Canyon Trailhead
Today is my first time to hike here. Moderate difficulty. Some steep hills and it is definitely challenging. Will be back for sure.
Lots of trail options! Beautiful scenery and plenty of other trails go-ers. Lots of doggos, and rabbits/squirrels. Good for biking at a moderately difficult level.
Been riding, running, and hiking the trails in this canyon for the better part of 20+ years. So much to explore. Thank you to Eloise Battle who, over 50 years ago, advocated for reserving this incredible space for nature lovers.
A lot of the trails are drier and scrubbier than you'd think - not exactly beautiful views. But there's a big variety. It helps to know where you're going before you get there.
