Confirmed from Tonto Natural Bridge State Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Park built around the natural travertine bridge found in the 1800s for hikes, picnics & day trips.
What runners say about Tonto Natural Bridge State Park
“The park and paths are well-maintained and the person in the gift shop that took our money was incredibly helpful and cheerful.”
“The views are stunning, the area feels peaceful, and it’s definitely worth seeing in person.”
“Easy walk to the base of the bridge, or be adventurous and follow the trail along the creek, it's quite a workout.”
Stunning park. The travertine bridge is very cool! Basic signage to explain the creation of the natural bridge. Lovely paved path, and also the option to go off the paved path and do some rock scrambling. $10 per person to enter the park. Discount prices for kids, yearly pass available.
This is a beautiful park and a very fun hike if you do the loop all the way through. I will say that it is a little tricky to follow the trail markers and stay on trail. There is plenty of rock scrambling and slick rocks down in the canyon so you might want to consider that with little kids or elderly.
This natural bridge is one amazing place! We came as a youth group and were able to get a group rate because we had over 15 people. If you call in advance, you can get a group rate. We spent a couple hours here.
We are a little too unstable to try the various paths down to the creek, but we did walk on the path to the four viewing points of the bridge. We got there at 9:30 and the parking lot was almost empty. By the time we left, it was hopping. So from our perspective, the best time to go is early.
Trail conditions & character
“Of the four viewing points, number one is best for the view of the bridge and number four is best for a view of the waterfall.”
“The trail down to the falls and out to the parking lot is a fairly short trail.”
“Lovely paved path, and also the option to go off the paved path and do some rock scrambling.”
