Confirmed from Veterans Memorial Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Veterans Memorial Park

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (711 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

well-maintained 3 mentions

“It's generally well kept but there are few things that need repairs you'll only notice as the sun goes down (lighting).”

🏞️ beautiful scenery 9 mentions

“The walking trail around the lake gives great views of the surrounding area and of the wildlife that calls the lake home.”

🌾 quiet & peaceful 4 mentions

“Events aplenty, peaceful areas and shoreline seating to enjoy Lake Ewauna and the plethora of wildlife.”

I like to come to this park and take advantage of the access to the walking trail along the lake (The Wing Watchers Trail). From what I have seen, Veterans Park always has a plethora of visitors.

★★★★☆ — Diana , Jul 2021

I take care of two DD gentlemen and they love walking around at Vet's Park almost everyday. There's always ducks, geese, seagulls, pelicans, and other little birds (that I don't know the names of) wandering around year round it seems.

★★★★★ — Zephyr , Aug 2025

Nice little stop before sunset although I wouldn't come back here at night. The bathrooms were locked due to vandalism, with a photo showing the women's bathroom doors had been kicked in and broken off the hinges. Bit worrisome. The actual park was a nice bit of history though.

★★★★☆ — Christina , Feb 2025

Nice little park with plenty of shade. Trails nearby to the lake and river. The memorial is a really nice tribute to those who served with personalized bricks for those who had fallen. The fighter jet and the steam engine are the main attractions and worth a visit. Cool place to take a stroll and see the sights.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

🏞️ Scenic views 15 mentions

“Whether your taking a stroll, waking dogs, or just relaxing and enjoying the view out over the lake, there is bound to be something to do here.”

  • SurfacePaved — asphalt or concrete. Fast and predictable, runnable year-round, and fine with a stroller
