Confirmed from Veterans Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Veterans Park

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (95 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

well-maintained 3 mentions

“Clean and big park to bring your children to or just to walk around.”

🌳 shaded & cool 3 mentions

“Tennis courts, playground equipment, shady walking path, picnic pavilion.”

🌾 quiet & peaceful 3 mentions

“Its quiet and not too many people are visiting it.”

There are tennis courts available, but they are reserved for Lawrence High School from 3-6 pm on school days. Men and Women's bathrooms are opened except during the winter and there are two dog poop bag dispensers that are normally filled except during the winter.

★★★★☆ — Zubin , Mar 2019

Hidden in a quiet neighborhood just off the beaten path, this little oasis features shade and tennis courts for a break from the busy traffic of Lawrenceville and the rt 1 corridor.

★★★★☆ — Brian , Jan 2018

It is a nice park that's near me, I can literally walk to it, And I go to it a lot, It even has restrooms.

★★★★☆ — Brennan , Mar 2017

A few miles of trails, play area (swings, slides, play sets, etc.) for kids right near picnic areas, some sports fields. Just check your entrances according to your intent because there is no vehicle access through park, only parking areas at the entrances.

★★★★☆ — Joshua , May 2017

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

🅿️ Trailhead parking 4 mentions

“There is nice sitting area, with benches and tables, and it is covered, so even if the rain starts you not gonna get wet, and it is right next to the parking lot.”

The practical stuff

  • AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
  • SurfaceNatural surface — easiest on the joints and the most fun, but expect roots, rocks and mud after rain
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeRunners describe real tree cover here — it makes a summer afternoon workable
  • LightingRunners report lights on the path — useful for pre-dawn and after-work miles. Lighting and opening hours are separate things, so check both.
  • At the trailheadparking, restrooms — reported by runners
