Confirmed from Veterans Parkway's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
This scenic trail featuring shade trees, benches, fitness stations & public art allows leashed dogs.
What runners say about Veterans Parkway
“First time today I've walked this beautiful trail.”
“It's quiet, green, away from cars and a great running surface.”
“There are trees that provide some shade, but several areas are in full sun.”
Gorgeous running trail! Easy on your feet, decently long (over 5 km long) and really beautiful with all the greens on both sides. Only downside is the many street crossings, but luckily most are on 4-way stop intersections, so it's pretty easy to cross.
First time today I've walked this beautiful trail. I brought my two retired racing greyhounds and they loved it. For them it was more of a stop and sniff and explore than a walk. People along the way were so friendly. Loved this trail and definitely will come back.
Been here ton of times! A great place to walk or run without the concrete or traffic. It makes one feel as though they are away from home at some wrekend getaway. Pls be careful after it rains coz the mulch can get a little too squishy at certain spots.
Green and colorful path, surrounded by vegetation that from its beginning to the end covers 3.5 miles, making the route a very pleasant experience. There are no bathrooms along the way, although there is parking on the street.

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
- SurfaceNatural surface — easiest on the joints and the most fun, but expect roots, rocks and mud after rain
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeRunners describe real tree cover here — it makes a summer afternoon workable
- LightingRunners report lights on the path — useful for pre-dawn and after-work miles. Lighting and opening hours are separate things, so check both.
- At the trailheadparking — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
