We have not been able to confirm the surface, distance or shape of Vista Point yet from its own listing, the park's website or runner reviews — so those cells stay blank rather than guess. What is below comes straight from the listing and from reviewers' own words. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about Vista Point
A nice neighborhood trail for an evening or morning jogging. As to drive to visit? No.
Really neat little spot! Hike itself isn’t so bad, even on a particularly warm day, and it’s worth the view for sure. There’s plenty of picnic tables and benches in decent condition to soak it all in and birdwatch. I really loved the ridge line map too!
Nice flowers and cacti amongst the green hills, but the normal truck trail has shrunk down to single path by rain induced overgrowth in some parts. Beware of overgrowth camouflaging occassional 2 ft. deep ruts in the path. Thank goodness the mud flats of a month ago have all but disappeared.
Incredible views of Saddleback Mountain to the East and out across Lake Forest and Irvine to the West. Picnic tables and hitching posts at the top. Great hike up and down through O'Neill Regional Park without too much steep terrain. Check it out!
