Confirmed from Wabash Heritage Trail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about Wabash Heritage Trail
“Great views of Indiana farmland and the Wabash river.”
A great local trail along the Wabash River. Ideal for long walks or any-length runs! The trail goes all the way to Prophetstown State Park or the Davis Ferry bridge which would be a 9 mile round trip. The first 3 miles are smooth pavement, and the next 2.5 miles are rocky, sandy and peaceful!
Great place in to hike in the Lafayette area! It can get super muddy. Bring a good pair of boots or old tennis shoes. The trail is not a loop, so pay attention to your mileage/time as well. My favorite places to start are at the Battlefield and Davis Ferry. Tapawingo (toward Davis Ferry) is nice too!
Great hiking as long as the river is not overflowing. We were pleasantly surprised to see an eagle flying overhead. It's a great way to get some exercise. Get out and enjoy this trail.
Must go to this place to spend weekends. This place is really wonderful during rainy days. Good place for walking and jogging.

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
- SurfaceNatural surface — easiest on the joints and the most fun, but expect roots, rocks and mud after rain
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
