Confirmed from Waitts Mount Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Relaxed refuge featuring basketball courts and playgrounds for kids, plus a stone climber and a hiking trail.
What runners say about Waitts Mount Park
“It even said it's Waitts Mount in beautiful large letters right on the summit.”
Nice small park with a great view of Boston and sunsets. Bit of a steep walk up. There are a few parking spots at the top. One porta potty. A basketball court. Small playground. Stone blocks to sit. You can see bunny’s squirrels birds. People bring their dogs. Sign says no smoking or alcohol.
I really enjoyed visiting Waitts Mount Park! the place is peaceful, with an amazing view of Boston and an easy trail to walk, it’s perfect for catching the sunset and taking great photos, the area is well maintained and has a great vibe for relaxing or going on a quick hike, I’ll definitely be back! 💓
Great walking paths great visuals. They installed alot of new games foe the kids, seats for eating lunch, you will see some hawks and eagles flying overhead so keep pets on leash all times. I love this place yiu can get alot of cool panoramic photos here for sure.
I was in Boston in September last year and wanted a nice view of the city, this was an easy ride on the orange line to oak grove and a short walk away. The view was very nice!

“This is also the best location around Boston to watch the night sky due to its elevation and lack of street lights.”

The practical stuff
- AccessOpen 24 hours — no gate to beat, so a 5am or a 10pm run both work
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- LightingRunners report lights on the path — useful for pre-dawn and after-work miles. Lighting and opening hours are separate things, so check both.
- At the trailheadrestrooms — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
