Confirmed from Waterfall Canyon Trail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

Easy hike with a few benches leading to a waterfall plus rock formations.

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (133 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 8 mentions

“3 miles is a straight path to the rocks, and there’s a few rocks you have to go over at the end to see the waterfall, but it’s very beautiful and very doable.”

👟 good for all levels 6 mentions

“Whether or not the waterfall is active, this is a great, easy trail, and the petroglyphs to check out along it are truly so awesome!”

Great afternoon hike. Only 2 miles total but such nice weather and the white tanks are truly beautiful too!

★★★★★ — Cindy , Aug 2022

Very cool hike. We found purple water up the ledge at the end. Saw several lizards. The petroglyphs make this hike even better.

★★★★★ — Luke , Oct 2023

This is a easy hike and the views are beautiful. The trail is paved about half way up. You will only see a waterfall if its raining, but it's still worth the trip. There is a staircase at the end of the trail which takes you to into a cave of towering rocks.

★★★★★ — Jodi , Oct 2022

One of the most beautiful places on earth in my opinion. Probably the most popular trail in the park. Lots of families and pets on the trail. Good restrooms for a park. Large covered playground within sight of trailhead. Tons of benches and covered picnic tables. The entire park is incredibly beautiful!

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
