Confirmed from West Ridge Nature Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Walking, bird-watching & fishing are popular in this lush, outdoor area with a large pond.
What runners say about West Ridge Nature Park
“This is one of the most gorgeous stretches in the neighborhood and you’d hardly ever notice it was there unless you have a keen eye.”
This location is absolutely stunning. We had no idea it was even there. It's definitely a hidden gem in the city. All along we thought it was part of the cemetery but we were wrong, it was a beautiful hidden nature reserve. It's awesome for walks, runs, bird watching, photography, the kids.
Small loop trail…flat and paved, so great for limited mobility, families w youngish children, elderly, etc. Pleasant enough for being corned between busy avenues…there is some street traffic noise. You’ll find a pond with turtles, perhaps deer, a variety of birds.
This beautiful park was such a surprise. The park district has lovingly restored many spectacular prairie flowers, which can be seen virtually everywhere. Nice hiking trails and a lovely pond. Lots of birds, ducks, geese and turtles. Added plus of being right next to Rosehill Cemetery, which is also a favorite place.
If you are fond of nature, then you should definitely visit here! It is quite hidden but you won't regret visiting this amazing park! You hear birds all the time here. You can even spot a baby deer here! It is so beautiful over here.

“Good views of nature, but parking can be difficult with only street side parking.”

“It’s the perfect place to reset your brain without leaving the neighborhood, though I do wish there were actual restroom facilities instead of just the portable one.”
