Confirmed from Whitehorse Trail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about Whitehorse Trail
“The area is beautiful and many enjoy fishing from the banks of the river as well as floating on innertubes or other things in the hot Summer sun.”
This section of the famous Whitehorse Trail is located near Cicero and the old Monte Cristo railway bridge at Cicero. The area is beautiful and many enjoy fishing from the banks of the river as well as floating on innertubes or other things in the hot Summer sun.
Walked the Cicero section of this trail. Although it was a beautiful Labor Day, I saw only one other person using it during a 40-minute stroll. There is a nice smooth blacktop surface. Some sections are nearly overtaken by blackberries.
Nice ride along the trail and you can see Whitehorse Mountain and the Stellaguamish River. I only did the first 10 miles of the trail by starting in Darrington.
Best place to swim at the river. Easy access. No hiking necessary. Just fun in the sun!

- SurfaceCrushed gravel — the rail-trail classic: softer than asphalt, still smooth enough for tempo work
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
