Confirmed from Whittenberger Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Whittenberger Park

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (315 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

well-maintained 3 mentions

“It's quiet, it's clean, never crowded and So many different types of ducks!”

🏞️ beautiful scenery 3 mentions

“This here park is along the Caldwell greenbelt kind of like Boise’s but no where as beautiful as the Boise greenbelt.”

🌳 shaded & cool 3 mentions

“Needs more shaded sitting areas.”

🌾 quiet & peaceful 5 mentions

“Caldwell rotary ponds have a great 1 mile paved walking path that have lots of birds and is quiet (except for the occasional train) it is also right on the Boise river.”

It's a nice, big, open dog park with lots of room to run around. There are 3 separate fenced in areas, one for small dogs and the other two for any size dogs. Personally I think one should be for small dogs, one for any size, and one for large dogs only but that's just my logical opinion.

★★★★☆ — Jeff , May 2022

It's a slice of quality and serenity. Families enjoying the warm sunshine and having a picnic where you can spread a blanket under a tree and after you eat, go for a walk and on your way home get the kids some ice 🍦 and enjoy! Good place to make memories.

★★★★★ — Aurora , Aug 2019

Wonderful park with paved walking paths and views of the river. Designated fenced dog park with separated sections for large and small dogs. Public parking with many spaces and restrooms. Peaceful place to enjoy nature and get some exercise.

★★★★★ — Elizabeth , Nov 2022

This is an excellent park to take your kids or fur babies. When we lived in Caldwell we went for walks there two or three times a week. It's a 17-acre park situated along the Boise River with a 3.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

🐕 Dog-friendly 28 mentions

“It's an excellent walk, and by the way, you can let your baby stretch his legs at the only dog park in Caldwell.”
