Confirmed from Ais Trail Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

🐕 dog-walking favorite 4 mentions

“It is dog friendly, which is hard to find in the area, however there are cactus along the tail so beware.”

Although this trail is pretty small, in comparison to the massive hiking spots I usually go to, it is quite gorgeous! A couple bonus features - there are restrooms here, and even better – you can bring your pups! That’s right! This is a dog friendly, hiking trail. No bicycles allowed.

I went today for the first time. There is really no parking spots, so I just pulled my car over (no other cars around! I was hoping I parked in the right spot). There are different trails you can take, I guess if you aren’t following the map, you could be going in circles.

★★★★★ — Jean , Apr 2025

This quiet little park was a perfect place to walk the dog on sandy trails in natural habitat. Restrooms, picnic tables and a nice lagoon overlook.

★★★★☆ — Ifgs , Feb 2022

Perfect little place to walk your pooch when you want some distance from civilization, even though civilization is not far away. A couple of public bathrooms nearby should the need arise. Even a small shelter should you decide to have a picnic.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

The practical stuff

  • AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
  • SurfaceBoardwalk — flat and scenic, and slick when wet, so watch your footing
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeRunners describe real tree cover here — it makes a summer afternoon workable
  • At the trailheadrestrooms — reported by runners
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
