Confirmed from Akin Riverside Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (268 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

well-maintained 4 mentions

“Seems kind of small for us but we do come here almost daily my grandchildren live blocks away so far haven't run into any trouble very clean”

🌾 quiet & peaceful 5 mentions

“Peaceful little nook in downtown Anoka , shallow enough to swim.”

I grew up in Anoka, it has changed a lot. Riverside Park with the pavilion is better than ever. The walking paths are great. So nice Anoka was able to retain this for the city. The grass is so green and the whole place is so we'll maintained. Some street parking, there is a free parking garage a short distance away.

★★★★★ — Deborah , Jun 2019

As a park reviewer of over 150 parks and playgrounds, this park has walking paths along the Rum River. If you're interested in historical towns, this is a cool hike. Along the path are signs with the history of Anoka.

Anoka is such a wonderful city to live in! Akin Riverside Park is Very Nice shaded and well kept walkway. There is also a Nice elevated walking bridge to Ferry Street and tunnel under Main street to the dam and Veterans Memorial Park. So many things for our community to do!

★★★★★ — Andrea , Aug 2025

Walking trails with Historical Plaques all the way to the Dam. Also a Pavillian, Charcole Grills, picnic tables/benches, fishing pier, small playground, Bench Swings and wildlife! Great for all ages, I have been coming here since I was a kid, each visit is unique.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
