Confirmed from Alexander Road Trailhead's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about Alexander Road Trailhead
“You start by walking along a beautiful creekside, Warning you will cross the creek a couple of times so prepared to get wet.”
“Really great spot to bike or run!”
Also know as the Sagamore creek loop trial. This is one of the best loop hikes around and the perfect distance. You start by walking along a beautiful creekside, Warning you will cross the creek a couple of times so prepared to get wet.
I found Linda today…not so much the falls part. Beautiful even without the water. This metro has been a favorite for years. Multiple trails to hike and has access to the paved towpath as well. Usually pretty lowkey on the trails which is nice.
Small little parking lot 15 parking spaces and one handicap space. Access the Metroparks Bike & Hike trail. Two picnic tables one grill available. Porta potty on site. Also access to the Sagamore Creek Loop Trail that takes to the Frazee House then back
This is not an easy trail. About a 4 mile loop, you’ll cross creeks and narrow paths with little visibility. Well worth it though, a lot of fun for someone who enjoys hiking.

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
- SurfaceMixed — more than one surface along the route, so check the segment you plan to run
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
