We have not been able to confirm the surface, distance or shape of Alleghany Park yet from its own listing, the park's website or runner reviews — so those cells stay blank rather than guess. What is below comes straight from the listing and from reviewers' own words. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (309 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

“Well maintained baseball/softball fields, soccer fields, walking trails, with an awesome playground for kids of all ages, basketball court, and new pickleball courts.”

HUGE PARK!! It’s a beautiful park located in Grayslake. The park offers walking pathways, playground and volleyball court. The equipments in the playground are newer and well maintained. My son enjoyed playing in the playground.

Excellent park! Well maintained baseball/softball fields, soccer fields, walking trails, with an awesome playground for kids of all ages, basketball court, and new pickleball courts. Bathroom amenities and refreshments available on select days. My family loves this park!

We went here to take a walk for the day, and we love this park. There is a good well paved trail to walk around on. There are also ⚽️ fields, ⚾️ fields, and a 🏀 court here as well. This is very ideal for outdoor workout, fun, and games. I will love to come back here again for sure.

★★★★★ — Timothy , May 2026

Huge space with nice baseball, softball and soccer fields. The park is great for kids and the walking trail is well maintained. It's always 10 degrees cooler here due to the fact there are no trees or landscaping to shield the area from the wind and elements. Bring a jacket or two!

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

🚻 Restrooms 6 mentions

“There is a bathroom, but I think it is only open when games are being played (or when park is open).”
