Confirmed from Alum Creek State Park Hiking Trail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Alum Creek State Park Hiking Trail

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (22 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

Natural path with lush surroundings. The one way trail is quite wide, consisting of grass and ground cover. You can do the full 3.6 miles or do a 1 mile variant. The trail starts and ends at a boat ramp, so you will be fighting for parking spots with trucks and trailers. But, once on the trail, it was pretty personal.

★★★★☆ — Keith , Jun 2020

There are 3 different trails. A short one that it's 1 mile, one that it's around 2 miles, and one that's 3.6 miles!! The nature is remarkable and it is a very peaceful place. I went to the trail that it is 3.6 miles, but unfortunately I couldn't walk it all because it was very wet.

★★★★★ — Kyridou , Nov 2021

This is a nice grass trail that is mowed. It was a little confusing while parking as to where the trail starts but it's on the right as you drive up to boat trailer parking area. If you go in the morning to walk, wear waterproof shoes because there's a lot of dew in the grass, and your shoes and socks will get wet.

★★★★★ — David , Aug 2023

The trails are wide and grassy, so they can get muddy. Lots of parking. And the bathroom is quite nice for a park.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
