Confirmed from Araby Trailhead's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Loop or out-and-back trail with steep stretches and panoramic views of the city, valley and mountains.
What runners say about Araby Trailhead
“Beautiful, interesting trail that goes pretty far back.”
Disclaimer: online posts say 1.5 miles one way, trailhead sign says 1.7. The parking lot for this Trail is immediately on the side of Rim Road at this intersection of Palm Canyon. That is where the trailhead sign is located.
Small parking area right off E Palm Canyon and Rim Road. Trail starts just off to your left as you look uphill. Hard to see it's signs among all the 'no trespassing ' signs. But a very enjoyable hike. Saw Roadrunner birds!
A hike with various length of your choice. The short start stretch offers a flat hike through some ghostly Halloween decorations. Some far and close views of the trailer dwellings accompany us during the steep ascension.
DON'T LEAVE VALUABLES IN YOUR CAR! When we pulled up police were there taking a statement next to a van with a broken window. There's glass from many broken windows all over the parking lot. Nice hike with good views though
Trail conditions & character
“You get to the top and just go past the former home of Bob Hope and it’s a great trail for exercise and views.”
“While facing towards the hill while standing at the parking lot, the actual trail is approximately 50 feet forward and to the left at an opening in the guardrail.”
“There's glass from many broken windows all over the parking lot.”
“Just keep following the trail in in a loop you back.”
“It starts at a low level and it's pretty moderate but there is some significant elevation gain.”
