Confirmed from August G. Beckemeier Conservation Area's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about August G. Beckemeier Conservation Area

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (101 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 5 mentions

“Nice and shady in the summer for a short hike, and I imagine the view of the river would be beautiful once the trees drop their leaves.”

🌳 shaded & cool 3 mentions

A lovely dirt trail jaunt down the ridge overlooking Chesterfield Valley and back up again. The right side (first trailhead you encounter coming up from the parking lot) is the more steep climb, and the left side is more gradual. There are a few spots with benches to pause and take in the view.

★★★★★ — Alaina , Nov 2020

Short trail with a notable elevation change. Really neat creek along the way.

★★★★☆ — Paul , Jun 2023

Hidden gem in the heart of Chesterfield. Takes about 20-25 minutes to walk the short loop trail. Most of the trail is in the woods and there are some good hills. The trail is natural so it gets pretty muddy after rain. About 8 parking spaces at the trail head.

★★★★★ — Barry , Nov 2020

This is a small, but very unique area. There are nine parking spots and one handicap spot. As depicted by others, if you keep right and take the first right; the path becomes very narrow and the terrain begins to get steep, so much so, that the path winds around and in some cases there are very large steps downward…

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
