Confirmed from Bald Ledge Scenic Vista Trailhead's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Bald Ledge Scenic Vista Trailhead

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (60 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 8 mentions

“But the venture is well worth the short distance with a beautiful view.”

👟 good for all levels 5 mentions

“Gentle terrain makes for a very easy hike.”

This trail starts on a class IV road. There is a sign for the trail beside the road, but the trail does not begin behind the sign. Instead, walk up the class VI road to an orange gate and trail arrow. Then follow the logging road until you see a sign on the right for the Bald Ledge trail.

Surprised to reach the lookout in such a short time. Trail begins on a little dirt road for about half a mile of mostly level walking before coming to a second sign that takes you right to the lookout. Maybe we were supposed to go farther? Anyway the view alone makes this trail outstanding.

This is a wonderful secret place to have a picnic or to relieve stress. You access the vista location by parking at the lot at Sky Pond. Hike up the Class VI road about 1/4 mile and you'll see a orange or yellow metal gate on your left. Turn here and hike for another 1/2 mile along the two-track road.

★★★★★ — Tim , Nov 2017

Loved this almost 2.5 mile loop. Most of it is a class VI road but a trail leads off the loop to Bald Ledge where the vista includes 4 lakes plus Hawkins Pond. Gentle terrain makes for a very easy hike.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

🏞️ Scenic views 23 mentions

“Starts with a logging road, but transitions to trail, this short 30 min walk in the woods is worth the exercise to see the view at the end.”

⛰️ Hills / elevation 3 mentions

“A little tough getting there on my motorcycle as the dirt road has some steep incline in places and the trail itself looks like a very low traveled area.”
