Confirmed from Barefoot Beach County Preserve's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Undeveloped barrier island with a sandy beach, learning center, butterfly garden & walking trail.
What runners say about Barefoot Beach County Preserve
“New buildings with tables to eat at and bathrooms are really nice and well maintained.”
“The driveway to the beach itself is worth seeing; it runs thru a beautiful condominium with incredible mansions, had a feeling like I was in a movie.”
“It’s a peaceful and beautiful spot with soft white sand and calm water – perfect for relaxing and swimming.”
Tonight felt like a little love letter from Florida. 🌅✨🌴🥥 Check out our YouTube Channel SamnSevTravels Barefoot Island Beach Preserve welcomed us with the softest sand, just-warm enough water, and a sunset so magical it stopped everything around us.
Lots and lots of shells 🐚 I didn’t get a chance to visit this preserve prior hurricane Ian, apparently this place had way more to offer but even though it is still being restored it has its unique charm. It almost felt like I was on an uninhabitable island. Got lucky to see manatees, dolphins, crabs, fishes over there.
Drove down to Barefoot beach after finishing my convention. This is a beautiful secluded beach. White sands, small waves and green water. Not a lot of beachgoers after 5 pm. The sunset was amazing and worth the drive. The water was not clear on my visit, but I believe it can be with proper wind and tides.
The beach was fairly crowded on a weekday, but a short walk down the beach and it opened up. We sat under palm trees and there were lots of intact shells to search through. Unfortunately the red tide got to us, so we had to leave after two hours, so I would double check the tide status before you go!
Trail conditions & character
“There is a kayak launch across the parking area and the canal side looks beautiful with the mangroves and very natural.”
“The views were spectacular in every direction hotel silhouettes glowing on the horizon, families laughing, friendly strangers waving as they passed by.”
“Bathrooms are closest to the first parking area but easily walkable, via the beach from the other parking areas.”
“They would benefit from some type of shower/water station but otherwise it’s perfect.”
