We have not been able to confirm the surface, distance or shape of Bay Trail / Foster City yet from its own listing, the park's website or runner reviews — so those cells stay blank rather than guess. What is below comes straight from the listing and from reviewers' own words. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Bay Trail / Foster City

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (80 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 5 mentions

“It's breathtakingly beautiful and offers separate paths for walkers and bikers.”

The city has truly outdone itself with the new trail. It's breathtakingly beautiful and offers separate paths for walkers and bikers. The biking trail is especially impressive. It's an ideal spot to come for a workout, and I'm thrilled to have it as a resident. It's easily the best thing the city has ever done for us.

Amazing place for running, walking and biking. There are a lot of people around so I have been there post sunset as well sometimes. The view is really pretty with the water and the flights flying real close as the San Francisco airport is pretty close. Amazing views in the golden hours.

Cool bike trail next to the bay with some options to stop and watch wind surfers and the path is right next to the sand and small waves in some places. A good flat place to take the kids for bike rides

Nice hiking and biking trails along the water on one side and birds watching. During the right weather you can also see downtown San Francisco.you can see water surfers , kite surfers , sailing etc..

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
