Confirmed from Bayfront Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Charming local park offering sweeping views of the San Pablo Bay & Golden Gate Bridge.
What runners say about Bayfront Park
“Nice little area in Pinole; I came across it on accident and was thrilled to find this beautiful old mansion and the lovely grounds.”
“I often walk the trail here with my son and it’s always a peaceful atmosphere with beautiful views by the water.”
Love walking on the Bay Trail. Lots of places to sit and watch the sun set. Nice ducks and train watching too.
Great little park with nice walk along the bay. Paved trails, the bridge has gorgeous views and is very friendly for all (walkers, bikers, skaters, wheelchairs, kids etc ) Lots of birds and there's an area for kids to pick up a shells. The Amtrak also passes through here.
A hidden gem just a few minutes from Pinole and Hercules. Will be even better when they complete the pedestrian bridge connecting the Bay Trail over the RR. Update Dec 2020: Pedestrian bridge was completed last year and the walk and views are spectacular.
Great trail for walking, running or bike riding, with amazing views along the SF Bay. This trail has been under development for years. The state's goal is to have it connected all around the bay. This section is in the Pinole/Hercules area. Most of the trail is paved over.

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
- SurfacePaved — asphalt or concrete. Fast and predictable, runnable year-round, and fine with a stroller
