We have not been able to confirm the surface, distance or shape of Baylands Nature Preserve yet from its own listing, the park's website or runner reviews — so those cells stay blank rather than guess. What is below comes straight from the listing and from reviewers' own words. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Vast marshland with 15 mi. of trails for walking, running & biking, plus bird-watching & kayaking.
What runners say about Baylands Nature Preserve
“🌅 The hiking and walking trails are well-kept and perfect for a relaxing stroll or jog with gorgeous views of the marshlands.”
“Beautiful area to watch birds, small crafs/airplanes landing and taking off, plenty of unpaved walking trails, or just simply seat on a bench and read a book!”
“It’s hard to believe that just minutes off Highway 101 and surrounded by the bustle of Silicon Valley, you can step into such a peaceful wetland full of wildlife.”
“The trails are well-maintained and marked, making it easy for visitors of all ages and abilities to enjoy the park.”
A great place to walk around aimlessly, cycling is definitely a better choice than scootering. Will definitely visit again. Many parking spots available, but I saw many people parked near the main road turning into the preserve, I am not sure why.
Excellent open space for trails and watching birds. Has a large duck pond with parking around it. Great place for an afternoon stroll with young kids, watching the planes, birds and the bay.
I utilize the Stevens Creek bike trail that connects you to the Baylands Bike trail that runs through the Baylands Nature Preserve. Awesome views as you cruise or walk along. All types of wildlife.
This system of paved trails is excellent but poorly marked. I felt extremely confused about where I was and how far the distances were. Feeling worried that I would get myself in trouble going too far in one direction, I didn't explore much; just a few miles doubling back on my steps. That aside, it was pleasant.
