Finished the Henry Hollow Loop and Laurel Woods Trail (10-12 miles in total) today. The whole thing took about 5 hours. The trail is very uppy-downy and harder than it looks. Start early, take plenty of water and snacks. There were entire sections of the trial (especially deeper in) with not a single person.
Beautiful place to hike! The Creekside Trail follows the bank of the beautiful Horton Creek that is shallow with a smooth rock bottom. There is easy access to the water. On the opposite side huge bluffs overlook the stream. Rock formations of limestone and shale are common along the trails.
Beautiful place to hike. We take the Creekside trail to see the pretty stream then take the Ridge Trail to the top. Then we go down the Henry Hollow Loop which is around 2 miles.
Beaman Park has a long cold creek perfect for wading and the trail is mostly shaded. This is still VERY close to the city but so rural feeling. Even the drive to it is beautiful.
