Confirmed from Bear Creek Nature Trailhead's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Hiking, biking, and walking trails are offered at this expansive and well-maintained area.
What runners say about Bear Creek Nature Trailhead
“It's very clean and dog walkers tend to pick up after their dogs, so you don't have to worry about stepping in dung.”
“It's a beautiful area with a sidewalk or you can walk in the natural surroundings.”
“Great trail for all levels, gorgeous desert landscape and sunsets.”
Calling this a hiking trail is a bit inaccurate. It is a paved sidewalk that follows a dry waterway. Good for families with babies in strollers and for people with dogs. A very pleasant walk.
A gorgeous hike with beautiful views. There were lots of wild flowers in blooms and the cactus were starting to bud. The trail climbs gently for the first mile and then it gets a bit steeper. A wonderful hike when the temperatures are in the sixties.
Love coming here for sunrise hikes with my pups they love it & it’s usually cold enough to get a good work out in the morning.Love this hike in the valley for the dogs.
This is a nice flat trail for walking or biking. If you park at Yucatan and Juarez, you can cross the channel and find additional trails that gain a few hundred feet of altitude, but be prepared to do some boulder hopping.

The practical stuff
- AccessOpen 24 hours — no gate to beat, so a 5am or a 10pm run both work
- SurfacePaved — asphalt or concrete. Fast and predictable, runnable year-round, and fine with a stroller
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- At the trailheadwater — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
