Confirmed from Fred Wolff Nature Preserve's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Area with numerous trails for hiking and mountain biking featuring mountain and desert views.
What runners say about Fred Wolff Nature Preserve
“This is a beautiful path for sightseeing our beautiful desert.”
“It’s very flat and perfect for running on dirt or just taking a leisurely stroll.”
I love the walking trail here! It’s very flat and perfect for running on dirt or just taking a leisurely stroll. The view of the mountains is amazing as well. I have seen quails nesting here, doves, roadrunners, lizards, owls and a tarantula over the many years that I have walked the path. It’s an incredible spot!
Really enjoyed this biking trail, plenty of rest stops for kids, with water and shade. Trail is a low grade for all to enjoy suggest morning especially during the summer.
Great walking/bike path all around La Quinta Cove.Wonderful peaceful refuge with wonderful desert views!
Nice well maintained walking hiking, bicycle area. Beautiful mountain Vista.

The practical stuff
- AccessOpen 24 hours — no gate to beat, so a 5am or a 10pm run both work
- SurfaceMixed — more than one surface along the route, so check the segment you plan to run
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
