This is the mountain top you reach at the end of the Roaring Camp steam train ride — peaceful, quiet, and surrounded by redwoods. You can’t drive up here; it’s only accessible by train or hiking. We took the train, and it stops here for a short break before heading back down.
Great place to hike/walk. It's a reasonable distance looping up and back down. It's peaceful and serene here on a nice sunny day.
I've been on dozens of train rides in my lifetime... None can compare to the awesome majesty of winding through the giant Redwoods. The train, the gold-panning; the whole town perfectly run!
We are only able to be here briefly but the area is absolutely beautiful. Redwoods, other trees, historical spots, hiking areaa.. If you love the outdoors you will love Bear Mountain!
