Confirmed from Bittersweet Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Bittersweet Park

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (1,195 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

well-maintained 5 mentions

“Found a porta potty in the parking lot that was open and relatively clean.”

🏞️ beautiful scenery 6 mentions

“Gorgeous park with big lake and nice trail around lake.”

Gorgeous park with big lake and nice trail around lake. Many red winged black birds, some geese, I saw a big white bird on the lake with a huge yellow beak and a hawk in a tree. The playground equipment for children to play is very nice and the covered picnic tables are very nice.

Great smaller park! It has a nice lake in the middle-ish with a good walking trail around it, there’s both the sidewalk and a dirt trail. The lake was mostly frozen this time of year, but it was nice spot to run around. There are bathrooms near the picnic tables & playground but they were locked when I was there.

We had our club potluck here for the first time. It was great! The shelter is very nice and has a fireplace for colder months. The walk around the lake is marked with the distance. The Veterans Memorial is a lovely addition, if you've never seen it. There are trees and plenty of parking. Dogs are allowed on leash.

There is a sidewalk around the park, good for walking, running or biking. You can fish. There are two playgrounds and shaded picknick tables, restrooms and drinking fountain, basketball court and a war memorial handicap parking and handicap restrooms

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
