Confirmed from Black Run Preserve's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about Black Run Preserve
“We first visited in the fall and it was stunning (pictures are from October/November).”
“Trails are fairly well marked with benches in some locations.”
“It’s serene, quiet, and a fantastic place to take your dogs (just watch for ticks!”
We took the Blue route. Almost a straight line. The blue route is almost 3 miles one way. Marker just stops, we went a bit further to make sure no more blue marker and then just back track. There are two parking area. Nice walk/hike, saw some people/w dogs and cyclists, all were friendly.
Large natural preserve with various trails. A great deal of variety from water (smaller lakes and ponds) to hard-pack trails to sand or light stone pathways. Trails are on both sides of the street. Parking is on both sides as well. Trails are fairly well marked with benches in some locations.
Peaceful and serenity defines this place well. Benches located through-out, but wish there were more for the disabled like me. I still thoroughly enjoy this nature preserve the best! It's a place to experience nature that's not far from home.
Great place to do just about anything. There’s bike trails, running trails, or trails that are great for a slow walk. The parking area doesn’t have that many spots so I recommend getting there pretty early.
