Confirmed from Blacks Bluff Preserve's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Hiker-favorite preserve featuring steep spots and a cave, plus a stream.
What runners say about Blacks Bluff Preserve
“Beautiful place to explore nature.”
“Trail isn't clearly marked after about 100 yards in but you can kinda see it.”
Not an easily marked trail but a fun rocky hike with some climbs. We found the cave, the coordinates are 34.2093198, -85.2151024 if you put that in your GPS you should get a general idea of where it is and walk to it. We didn't go very far into it because we forgot flash lights but it was neat! Definitley coming back.
PERFECT hike for the kiddos! Love that it’s a short hike to the creek area. My boys had such a fun time playing in the water. There’s a nice log to walk across that isn’t too high off the ground and they loved that. We had a lovely time and will definitely be back.
The trail is lightly traveled. I love it. Only room for one car really to park. Slow down once close so you'll see the small dirt spot to park at. Then walk down the hill. Also the trail continues after the small pool of water. Just walk to the left of the pool of water and continue up the hill.
Relatively unknown in and out trail and nature conservancy area. Includes several interesting rock formations, a cave, and a year round stream fed by a spring that flows out of the side of the mountain. We hiked to the peak of the mountain, but stopped at that point because the trail began a steep descent.
