We have not been able to confirm the surface, distance or shape of Bolt Mountain yet from its own listing, the park's website or runner reviews — so those cells stay blank rather than guess. What is below comes straight from the listing and from reviewers' own words. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Bolt Mountain

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (20 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 10 mentions

“I did this hike in early February and it was beautiful then, I can only imagine how beautiful it is now with spring in full bloom!”

This hike is around 7.4 miles total! Not hard at all it gradually goes up as it loops around mountain. I’d say it’s moderate. Getting towards type it does become quite narrow on trail but only for about .25 mile distance. The scenery is definitely beautiful and very peaceful to walk!

★★★★★ — Kattey , May 2022

Bolt Mountain was beautiful and the wildflowers are coming out, the 360° views at the top makes it all worthwhile. My only question??? Is it really only 3.7 miles to the top? Because it felt longer and while this is not the hardest hike I've been on, it wasn't the easiest either.

★★★★★ — Sarah , Mar 2022

Trail was beautiful, clean, quiet. Definitely give yourself extra time to get back before dark as this hike could take 3-4 hours depending on your experience. Parking is with fish hatchery, maps will try to turn right and bring you up another road, at the parking lot and don't do it.

I did this hike in early February and it was beautiful then, I can only imagine how beautiful it is now with spring in full bloom! It's decently long, but not a super difficult hike.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
