Confirmed from Bolton Notch State Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Bolton Notch State Park

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (274 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 9 mentions

“We walked 4 miles (2 back and fourth) and it was a nice relaxing walk with beautiful views of the woods and it was nice and shaded most of the way.”

Great walk. I did this as a part of the Sky's the Limit 2022 Challenge. It's apart of the airline trail and although it's not paved, it's well packed down dirt/gravel, so great for biking. Restrooms along the route. Benches to rest along the route if you need to.

Love this trail with lots to see and the history is still very around you. See the old phone poles as we count just under 50 poles on our walk

★★★★★ — Michael , Jul 2022

Great place to take your dog for a hike, or to ride your mountain bike. Beautiful wide main trail with lots of little offshoots.

★★★★★ — Eli , Aug 2022

This is actually such a beautiful place to go hiking there is so much to see here I started off by following a loop trail from the alltrails app. I did find the flag Rock which is not far from the parking area I also got to see the nice tunnel.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
