Confirmed from Case Mountain's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Forestland with panoramic summits, a fishing pond & rocky trails for hiking & mountain biking.
What runners say about Case Mountain
“Main trail is very wide, side trails are more narrow but still a good size very well maintained.”
“This area is absolutely gorgeous, especially in autumn, all gold, incredibly beautiful with fresh air and fantastic views.”
“Absolutely beautiful place and very well marked trails.”
“A great, beautiful, quick and relatively easy hike, 15 minutes to the top.”
Great place to go hiking/walking. The top of the mountain is super pretty. There are many trails and you can take a short hike or a super long one, whatever you decide. Have had a picnic here in June it was very nice
I love this hiking trail(s). Not going to lie, the trial doesn’t seem to be the best marked. Even with all trails I still got a little lost, I was on a group hike with about 10 others. But we thoroughly enjoyed the journey! lol 😂 No bathrooms on site.
A great, beautiful, quick and relatively easy hike, 15 minutes to the top. At that point you can come down the same way or walk all the way around the mountain, which usually takes me 45 minutes. Nice view from the top, and they have 3 or 4 park benches up there.
Great trails but there are quite a few so you have to pay attention or put on your GPS and mark where you parked. Your short walk could turn into a very long hike. The main trails are marked and then there are paths that go off on there own. We saw lots of wildlife, my daughter loved the pond and the ducks.
Trail conditions & character
“Very nice little mountain trail system, definitely nothing strenuous, but a nice hike with a solid view at the top overlooking most of CT and beyond when it's clearer out I'm sure!”
“Mildly muddy in one specific area (by the waterfront) but manageable when you walk on the outskirts.”
“Nice trail, starts off very steep with a difficult climb over gravel.”
“Has a lot of trails to walk on, but probably the most known is the white trail which is a loop.”
“Mountain bike trails (I followed the white markers) are well kept for the most part.”

The practical stuff
- AccessOpen 24 hours — no gate to beat, so a 5am or a 10pm run both work
- SurfaceNatural surface — easiest on the joints and the most fun, but expect roots, rocks and mud after rain
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
