Confirmed from Bonham State Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

🌾 quiet & peaceful 6 mentions

“Though small in size, it’s beautifully aligned with nature, offering a serene escape just a short drive away.”

I came to the park to spend some time on the trails and enjoy the solitude of being away from everyone, lol. The Ranger who checked me in was very nice. She provided me with a better map than what I was able to print and provided an overview of the trail conditions for me.

Small park, but definitely enough activities to keep you busy for a day. Clean trails, camping, hiking, biking, fishing, canoe, kayak, and pedal boat rentals. Nice big restrooms with nice shower stalls. Nice kids play area, sand volleyball court, and covered picnic area.

Bonham State Park is a hidden gem for nature lovers! Though small in size, it’s beautifully aligned with nature, offering a serene escape just a short drive away. The lake is ideal for boating, swimming, and kayaking, and there’s a scenic 1.5-mile trail that circles the water—perfect for a peaceful walk or casual hike.

★★★★★ — Surendran , Jun 2025

Bonham State Park, way up in North Texas beyond McKinney, is a quiet one that was enjoyable to hike through. Bois D’Arc Trail really wasn’t challenging like the trail map says, maybe after a lot of rain. Only saw 4 people on the trails so if you want a relaxing getaway, head here.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
