Confirmed from Bowles Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Scenic park, home to a pond, and playground, plus a pool.
What runners say about Bowles Park
“A very beautiful, shaded and green space in the heart of a quiet and diverse neighborhood.”
I like Tony shotwell Center it's so convenient to our neighbors and others library is super great people that run it .we always get great service.
Great place for family fun, lovely pond, very relaxing. Appropriate for a short run or walk.
Been coming here with my dog for years now. The tony shotwell rec/life center & a grand prairie library are in the middle of this park as well as a pool. It's spacious, has a walking trail, a part of grand prairie history, a kid's park & pavillions for parties or other events.
Looked very well kept when I came by. I'm sure it's a source of neighborhood pride. There's a picnic area and little paths, and a playground area. Plenty of parking shared with Tony Shotwell Life Center, which is on the southwest edge.
Trail conditions & character
“Awesome place,, we went fishing and cooked hot dogs and my sis cooked burgers on her mini propane tank grill.”
“Pool, recreation center, covered pavilion and picnic areas, and a paved walking path plus a pond.”

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
- SurfacePaved — asphalt or concrete. Fast and predictable, runnable year-round, and fine with a stroller
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
