Confirmed from Brattin Woods' own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about Brattin Woods
This short trail connects Okemos Road with the Parkwood YMCA. Though not long, it's a pleasant break. In the fall, the colors are great, and there is a picturesque scene with the trees over the water.
If you see some teenage boys running around acting strange, It's just my friends and I filming in one of the neatest looking little parks around.
Its a Beautiful walk thru the woods !! It took me a half hr to walk all the way to the YMCA because I was taking pictures but only took 15 minutes back. It was a wonderful walk for me and my dog.
Well drained, (not muddy, ) nice parking lot, small old growth forest, you can't get lost. Lovely. Park and walk north along the Okemos Rd sidewalk to enter trail
Trail conditions & character
“Well drained, (not muddy, ) nice parking lot, small old growth forest, you can't get lost.”
“One section near the beginning can be muddy if it has rained a lot, and also the section closest to the YMCA, but most of the rest is raised and free of mud.”

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
- SurfaceNatural surface — easiest on the joints and the most fun, but expect roots, rocks and mud after rain
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- At the trailheadparking — reported by runners
